Rob began his career working alongside his father in private gardens across Yorkshire, before moving into project management. In his thirties, he returned to his first love - garden design - and founded Rob Hardy & Co.

Today, Rob Hardy & Co is a collaborative studio of garden designers, horticulturalists, surveyors and project managers, dedicated to shaping landscapes of enduring character. With over 20 years’ experience, the team creates gardens that are confident, thoughtful and quietly distinctive.

Rob’s design approach is shaped by a long-standing interest in art and landscape, underpinned by formal training in horticulture and garden design. This combined perspective brings both creative clarity and technical rigour to the studio’s work. Every project is guided by careful judgement - spaces where each line, material and plant has purpose, and where colour, form and structure sit in natural balance.

"Our garden makes a powerful statement - that when people come together, we can end hunger. Created in partnership with Trussell, it's a space for both community gatherings and quiet, intimate conversations. It unites people in their shared belief that change is possible - a place where beauty meets purpose."

At the heart of the studio’s work is a belief that compelling gardens begin with listening: to clients, and to the architecture and landscape itself. From this foundation, the team shapes immersive environments with a strong sense of identity.

Materials are selected for their authenticity and longevity, while planting is composed to balance structure with movement, revealing itself gradually and rewarding exploration. The result is landscapes that feel both intentional and welcoming - atmospheric, enduring and deeply connected to their setting.

Trussell’s Together Garden represents the latest addition to Rob Hardy & Co’s portfolio, and marks the studio’s debut at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.
